Mushahar Children of Malwabar

Mushahars belong to lowest rung of the caste hierarchy in India. Mostly located in the States of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Poverty keep them away from state-run schools. The children of Malwabar village did not know how to read and write until "KOSHISH SCHOOL" came there to educate them and integrate them in mainstream schools. This year 5 students have joined Class VI in Govt School from Koshish, next year 25 more are preparing. The meaning of "KOSHISH" is to "try".

Celebrating Independence Day

On 15th Aug 2009, Malwabar Children were really excited to celebrate and enjoy the Independence Day. The children were given uniforms on the previous day and all of them came with flags in their hands early in the morning. All of them dressed in Koshish school uniform were looking charming kids waving flags and singing patriotic songs. They remembered the Martrys, sang songs for them and vouched to liberate the downtrodden from hunger, poverty and subjugation.
